Quebec City

An homage to my hometown La Vieille Capitale

Quebec City

In 1953, Alfred Hitchcock and his Hollywood crew traveled to Quebec City to film 'I Confess,' one of the director's most underrated films.

Hitchcock later said he chose Quebec City largely for practical reasons. With its Gothic churches, narrow streets, and Old World charm, it served as an ideal substitute for his beloved Paris. The historic French Canadian city was a natural cinematic setting.

Decades after the filming of I Confess, I developed a fascination with Alfred Hitchcock's masterful suspense films. I was thrilled to discover that many scenes had been filmed in my hometown, often just a short distance from where I lived as a young boy. This inspired me to rediscover my city.

Armed with my camera and a warm winter coat, I braved the cold and began capturing scenes of my own. With Hitchcock's film scores playing through my headphones, I wandered the streets in search of the perfect perspective on Quebec City. The result of that quest was my first time-lapse video—a tribute to both Hitchcock and my hometown.
